We at DonationMatch are expected to confirm that organizations using our system have a valid website URL because the information and data that can be found through a website is used by donor companies to make informed decisions. In general, a website allows them to learn more about your values, leadership, activities, and partners; how updated your website is; and how other sponsors and donors are promoted. In addition, a website provides access to quantifiable third-party metrics for your organization such as search engine rankings, web traffic/visitors, and impressions.
Facebook and other sites where one may create a profile or directory listing are not sufficient, as they are limited in content type, web analytics, and searchability.
Having a website can also increase your cause's visibility to people who are seeking organizations that do work like you do, potentially for other support and/or partnerships, so having one is highly recommended for both credibility and fundraising purposes.
If your organization does not already have a public website, some free and low-cost options to easily create one include:
- Canva (Free)
- Auctria (Free Explorer plan)
- Wix (Low cost)
- Weebly (Free)
- Squarespace (Low cost, custom domain included)
- Google for Nonprofits (Free to qualifying organizations)
